Myrthe Maes

Managing Associate

Myrthe obtained her Master of Laws degree (Cum Laude) at KU Leuven (2012). As a result of her particular interest in the challenges to the legal and regulatory framework stemming from the ever increasing digitalisation, she subsequently enrolled in the French-language Master’s Complémentaire en droit des TIC at the University of Namur, from which she graduated Cum Laude in 2013.

Following her university studies, Myrthe started her career as a lawyer in the field of corporate and intellectual property law at the Leuven Bar Association and during this time she advised and represented corporate clients in proceedings related to IP and commercial disputes for many years.

At ARTES, Myrthe is delving even deeper into IP law. She assists and advises corporate clients with questions related to copyright and neighbouring rights, media and entertainment law, the protection of trade secrets and unfair trading practices. She has a particular focus on the legal developments in the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence and law and was admitted to the first Summer School on the Law, Ethics & Policy of Artificial Intelligence organized by KU Leuven in 2021.

Myrthe is an experienced litigator. She successfully represented clients from divers economic sectors in several counterfeit proceedings.

Myrthe joined ARTES (Hasselt office) in 2021 and will advise our client base with her analytical mind and open communication style.
