dr. Nele Somers

Founder

Nele founded Artes in 2018, a niche law firm specializing in Intellectual Property Rights (IP), Technology, Media & Communication (TMC) and Dispute Settlement.

 

For over ten years she has assisted clients in all aspects of copyright, trademark law, design and design law, patents, computer law, breeders’ rights, trade secrets (know-how) and advanced commercial disputes. She has a particular interest in innovative and artistic files where she can bring her legal know-how, passion and business-oriented approach to the case.

 

After obtaining her law degree at the University of Antwerp (2007), she followed additional training in corporate law (HUB, 2009) and intellectual law at the University of Brussels (HUB, 2011). In June 2017 she obtained her PhD with a dissertation on daily management in the public limited company at the University of Antwerp.

 

After her MA studies, Nele joined the Antwerp bar in 2007. She skilled herself to a trusted IP, TMC, Privacy lawyer at established business law firms. Previous to founding Artes she practised as experienced lawyers at Monard Law. Litigation is her natural habitat, but clients also recognised her for her clear and practical approaches in advisory files.

 

She is a guest lecturer at the University of Antwerp and the University of Hasselt and author of various scientific contributions in journals & collections. She regularly participates as a speaker in international conferences and scientific study days.
